20 juni 2018 - La Paz, Bolivia

After returning from colca canyon, we travelled to Puno where we visited the titicaca lake at an altitude of 4700m. The people there live on wheat islands, built by themselves to live in solitude, simplicity and free of taxes. Nowadays, due to globalization there are already some influences on their way of living(metal working and hot water).

We stayed the night in Puno at the fifth floor of a hostel with a cracked window, combined with the altitude this meant a freezing cold night. We had 3 blankers and slept in our clothes. The morning after we crossed the border to bolivia, where we first visited Copacabana and had a layover of 4 hours. We met up with several tourists and hang out at a rooftop terrace and had a few drinks. I was even able to meet up with former class mates with whom I studied in Maastricht, now meeting eachother at the other side of the world!

Ronald and I took the bus to La Paz at 6pm. After moving over to boats and crossing the lake we arrived at 10.30 pm at the wild rover hostel(party place) where we will stay for the remainder in Bolivia.

So far we saw people sleeping in tents, eating of the street and heard multiple gun shots, all at the capital of Bolivia ranging from 4000-4700m altitude. More to come..
