Cusco

4 juli 2018

Cusco, the most beautiful city I have visited during the entire travel. Good weather, warm people, beautiful architecture, history and amazing food. From visiting the San pesro market and Sacsuayhman, to visiting Machu Picchu and Moras’ salt terraces by ATV. Cusco has so much to offer, a stroll through the city makes you realize this, even without spending a dime! But if you do, eating some Cuy(guinea pig) or Ceviche is recommended. In total I stayed about 10 days in Cusco, enjoying the city’s vendor shops, nightlife and doing day trips to make sure not to miss out. I stayed my time at the Wild Rover hostel, completing my trip as having had “the wildest threesome in South America”(Arequipa, La paz and Cusco). The view fromthe hostel is amazing and there are daily activities to keep you going. The only bad thing is a steep walk uphill if you ever go into the city center.

I met amazing people in Cusco, and hung out with an already existing clique of Australian and German friends. During the 24th of June we were lucky enough to visit the Inti Rayhmi festival, which is an ancient Inca celebration to celebrate the longest day of sun in the year, which was a turning point at the Inca calendar. Festivities kept on going the entire day with 100s of actors performing acts over 6 hours! I feel grateful to have made a part of this phenomenon.

As a last retreat, I left my known friends and visited Mancora, up north in Peru, to enjoy my last days of travelling in a relatively less known surfercity, enjoying sun, tranquility, getting a tan and a few cerveza’s ;).
